Much of the Slems Stories research has been based on the information contained in surviving letters and files from the halls archive. There are two main sources of information:

  • The 1949 letters are a series of letters written by early (pre-1928) Slemsman in the late 1940s and early 1950s in response to an attempt by the hall to contact every old boy and revive the pre-war Alumni group.

  • The Slemsman files are a series of files created by successive wardens between 1928 and 1939. Each file is dedicated to a student and contains any information held on them, including application forms, references and letters.

A selection of letters and files are published here for the first time.

Please be aware that as original documents, these letters and files may contain language and opinions which reflect the time in which they were created. In no way do these represent the current views of St Anselm Hall or its Association.
